Well, that was an experience...

Hello everyone! I am finally in Dunedin, New Zealand and it is unbelievable. I have never had a blog like this before so it should be interesting and I will try to stay on top of it and keep it updated. I guess I should just start from the beginning...

3AM Wake-up in Boston!

My mom and I left for Boston on Tuesday afternoon, had a lovely dinner at Legal Seafoods with Jesse and his parents, and then attempted to catch four-ish hours of shut-eye before we got up at three to catch our flight. We got there early, breezed through security, and it seems like the only issue we would face was the hefty fee for my overweight luggage (SORRY MOM!). We met up with Katherine in the airport and got to our gate with 30 minutes left before we boarded. We got on the flight, strapped ourselves in and then....

They announce our flight has been overbooked by 30 people. How an airline manages to sell 30 people seats that do not exist, I will never fully understand. They said unless 15 or so people got off the plane, the plane was NEVER going to leave the tarmack, really??? But anyways, the three of us got peer-pressured off the flight due to our original 12-hour layover in LA. We thought we had made a good decision, we left the flight with 400$ united vouchers, and promises of a free lunch, and seats on the next flight out. This is really quite a long story, but to sum it up...

The plane we should have stayed on...

Stayed in Logan until 9am and made friends with another student who hopped off the flight with us. Had a 6 hour layover in D.C. where we took over an entire gate taking naps and doing cross-word puzzles. We never received any free lunch. Our D.C. flight got delayed by two hours. We arrived at LAX terminal 2 at 9p.m. Our NZ flight left terminal 7 at 9:15 p.m. We got quite a workout and sprinted through LAX. We made our flight completely drenched in sweat, and were all sleeping within a few hours.

At the D.C. airport with our new friend Pat!

ADVICE: Never fly united and if you get the chance fly Air New Zealand, it's unbelievable.
